How to Make the Most of Fall Fun

Posted on November 22, 2017

louisville metro fallWhat is there not to love about the Fall season? Its hard not to become lost in the beautiful colors, the smell of pumpkin and cinnamon, and all those delicious foods. Every year we anxiously wait for Fall and then find disappointment when it comes and goes faster than you can say “Winter.” Let’s make this year different. Let’s make the most of it by not postponing all of our favorite Fall traditions . Here are a few ways to really take advantage of one of our most loved seasons.

1. Get started early! What many of us don’t realize is that we can start celebrating the fall before September 22nd. Many “pick-your-own” farms have traditional fall produce ready for harvest as early as August. Apples and pumpkins are not the only food items available for harvest in the fall. Many farms also have plums, grapes, squash, and a variety of other fall crops. Don’t wait until it starts getting cold to begin the fall festivities. Get out and enjoy it before it’s too late.

2. Try something new this year. Maybe autumn seems so short because we all do the same things every year. For example, instead of only buying pumpkins to carve them for Halloween, try incorporating them into other parts of the home decor. You can try painting them or highlighting the natural feel they bring in to the home. There are many new activities that are ready to be discovered. Here are some more ideas for new activities:

  • Bake your own pumpkin seeds
  • Plant perennials for next Spring
  • Make pumpkin dip and homemade graham crackers
  • Go camping (Even if it’s in the back yard!)
  • Churn your own butter
  • Create a fall wreath

3. Don’t let the fun end! As you may notice in retail stores every year, once Halloween passes the Christmas trees start going up. This is a chance to let Fall last just a little longer. Take the chance after Halloween to enjoy what is left of the beautiful fall season before you move on to Winter activities. Bake all those goodies you have been saving on your Pinterest and take that last chance to let the fresh air in to your home before you have to lock out the cold.
